It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas Michael Ferree, who died on Friday evening, September 19, 2025 at the age of 79. Tom was known as a principled and honorable man, who lived each day with integrity, humility, and compassion.
Tom was born in Canisteo, New York, to Jack and Patricia Ferree, and grew up alongside his beloved sisters, Teresa Phelps and Bonnie Ferree. Tom loved sports, and throughout high school he participated year-round in basketball, football, and baseball. A graduate in political science, Tom had an appreciation for history, politics, and current events.
Tom started his career in Rochester, New York, later moving to Boston, MA where he built a successful career in telecommunications sales in the 1980’s. He carried his “can-do” attitude into both his professional and personal life, earning respect for his authenticity and approachable style.
In 1988, Tom met the love of his life, Elizabeth, in Boston. The two married soon after and built a beautiful family together, welcoming their daughters Victoria (“Torie”) in 1992 and Jacqueline in 1995. In the same year, the family relocated to Atlanta, where Tom embraced the warmer climate and quickly became rooted in his community.
Tom always put family first. He lived life as a devoted husband and a proud father to his two girls. He delighted in supporting his daughters through every dance recital, school play, cheer performance, basketball and softball game. Tom served as the first president of the Foundation at Dolvin Elementary School, and later was president of the HOA for The Falls of Autrey Mill. He was a constant presence, leading with honesty, hard work, and love.
Outside of family, Tom was an avid golfer and an avid reader. Every morning began with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution read cover to cover over coffee with Elizabeth. He was a man who treasured the simple joys: great music, long conversations with friends and strangers alike, and his mother’s sauce and meatball recipe, faithfully carried on in the family kitchen by his wife and daughters.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Elizabeth; his daughters, Victoria and Jacqueline; and his sisters, Teresa Phelps and Bonnie Ferree.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 26, 2025, at St. Brigid Catholic Church in Johns Creek, GA, followed by a reception.

Frances Coles of Sandy Springs lost her ten year struggle with Alzheimer’s September 22, 2023. She was 86. She is survived by her three children , Kerry, Jane, and David McAuley and three grandchildren, Kay Salomon and Lily & Mac Holmes. An incredible mother and friend, she always had a wicked sense of humor with a snack for a well-timed zinger or a sly side-eye, endearing her to her entire family including siblings, nieces and nephews, and a generation of her children’s friends. And even through the mask of dementia, you could still see the twinkle in her eyes and the warmth of her gorgeous smile. Despite the other ravages of the disease, she never lost at least the basic recognition of her closest loved ones.
